Mindset Matters:The Sculptor’s Touch
One day, God called two men and gave each of them a handful of sand. The sand was from the same land equal in quantity and identical in quality. Then, He showed them a model sculpture that had a few cracks and imperfections. He asked them to recreate it, setting no strict rules except that they could not use any extra sand.
Eager to complete the task, both men worked with great dedication, carefully shaping their sculptures. They wanted to give their best effort, knowing this was a task directly from God.
When the time came to present their work, both sculptures were remarkable. However, one looked different from the original model. It had smoother textures and refined details, while the other sculpture had replicated the cracks and imperfections exactly as they were.
Curious, God asked, “Why does one sculpture look different? Why did you make changes to the model I showed?”
The man who had refined the sculpture stepped forward and said, “Lord, the model You gave had some cracks and damage. I believed it could be more beautiful, so I shaped it with care to restore it.”
God smiled. Though both men had received the same sand and the same task, their choices and perspectives shaped their work differently. One followed what he saw, while the other saw beyond and sought to improve it.
In the same way, though we are all created by God and share the same beginnings, our mindset, attitude, and choices shape who we become. Some accept things as they are, while others work to make them better.
Moral: We may start with the same foundation, but our mindset and choices determine whether we simply follow or strive to create something greater.
Matthew 25:14-30 (Parable of the Talents)
In this parable, servants are given the same opportunity but produce different results based on their mindset and effort, similar to how the two sculptors approached their task differently.
